Primarily the weight. The larger and heavier the RV gets, it changes classes.

I believe in CA you can drive a MH under 40′ that has hydraulic brakes with a car [C] license. In CA, an A license is for semi-trucks, a B license is for trucks over 25,000 lbs with air brakes, Cis for cars. also MH’s are classed as A, B, C. class A is no doors, class B is van/truck front with MH body. I don’t know what class b MH is. confusing, huh?
