I’m hearing sounds from my motorhome?

Last night I plugged into shore power (got a cord running from my house out to the RV) and today when I was out in it, I can hear something(?) like a motor running, Could it be my water pump? The sound seems like it’s coming from the rear of the RV. Somebody please clue me in!! Thanks!

There are a number of things that could be making the noise. Your job is to snoop around and locate the object. You can start by realizing that some things on board are run by 12 volts and some by 120 volts. Unplug and see if the noise continues. That will eliminate one of the two voltages. Then, get close to the thing and figure out from it’s shape and size what it is.
If there is no water in the domestic tank, the domestic water pump will run continually as the pressure switch will not have any water pressure to operate against. This will deplete the domestic battery. Your domestic battery was probably already flat, and charging it from shore power caused the pump to start. The domestic battery is independent from the starting battery.
